About

I love taking pictures.

And I've been taking photos from the time I got a Kodak Instamatic as a kid.

While my studies and career led me to teach French at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI, I continued to develop my interest in photography, upgrading my equipment and improving my technique.

After photographing  my family, church events, student trips and personal travel for many years, I decided to open up my own photography business and offer my skills to a wider public.

I love taking pictures that have a natural look and give an idea of someone's personality. So, I make my photo sessions fun and relaxed, especially if you are not comfortable in front of a camera.

During  portrait sessions for high school seniors and professionals, my goal is to catch you at ease in a comfortable pose, creatively framed in an engaging backdrop. In couple, family and group portraits, I aim especially at capturing  the connections of love and friendship that hold people together.

In addition to portraits, I enjoy photographing events, from a family outing to a large conference, in a story-telling (editorial) style based on candid shots with minimal posing. In my portfolio, look at the "Stories" and "Events" pages to see  examples of this type of photography.
